After that we decided to go for a walk along the main river in Calgary (Bow River) – suffice to say there weren’t many people out at that time – some of the walk is very pretty and some goes through some dodgy parts of Calgary – they seem to have a real problem with down and outs.
We saw loads of ground squirrels – they look really cute but are apparently a real nuisance. They also have loads of other squirrels which are also cute and very black in colour.
We then wandered into the main town of Calgary where they have lots of shops and restaurants – the sun came out and was very pleasant - we stopped at a restaurant and both had a really nice ceasar salad. After lunch we then went up the Calgary tower which looks like the BT tower in London and is 530 Feet tall. The 360 degree view is amazing. Part of the floor is glass and you can stand on it looking down to the street below – its really scary.
We then went back to one of the parks near our hotel and took in the sun – there was lots going on to keep us amused.
At night we went to an Indian restaurant –the food was wonderful but the service really bad, they had a real problem getting stuff out (took them hours to get us 2 glasses of wine – took 3 attempts to get them) – I think it was cos they were doing so much carry out business. John said the curry was up there with his University experiences in Bradford.
We then went back to the hotel has a night cap and watched a video.
