The sun was out in force and as the hours past the sky became cloudless. The hike was along forest tracks next to the island inlets. The sea was the most amazing aqua and the hills and mountains looked amazing.
We arrived at Mistletoe Bay for 12:30. What a wonderful place. A lady was cooking BBQ at the camp site. We needed to phone our Motel to book an extra night. She found the number and let us use her mobile. She would not take a penny from us. We sat down by the small bay and within minutes we were surrounded by a group of very cute ducks. We gave them some of our apples, which they loved.
We sunbathed for 45 minutes before beginning our hike back. We said hi to a donkey called Willow who lived in a field with two lama’s.
The walk back was equally as spectacular and we met a few Americans and Aussies on the way. This place is simply amazing to look at when the sun shines. We have seen so many amazing places this year and New Zealand is different yet again. It is so clean and the waters so clear.
After our walk, we went to a local Kayak rental company and reserved a two man Kayak for us tomorrow. We want to kayak to another bay along the Charlotte Trek.
After visiting the supermarket we came back to the Motel and had one of Fiona’s Fish Pies, using up some of the fish we caught the previous day. John is going to use the last of the Fish tomorrow, throwing together a Fish Curry.
Terminator Three is tonight’s movie. After a six hour hike, we think we deserve it!!
